Choco Granola
This is not only super simple to make, but it includes healthy ingredients such as ghee, quinoa and oats, and avoids the refined sugars and vegetable oils we find in so many store bought options. More importantly my kids all LOVE it (and so do I).
I’ve used ghee as the fat in this recipe, which lends not only beautiful flavour, but a source of healthy fats and nutrients that are important for busy minds, bodies and tummies.
Ghee is similar to clarified butter; The milk solids are removed, making it almost lactose-free and the way it is prepared makes it safe to be used at high temperatures. Unfortunately many cooking oils (e.g. canola, sunflower, vegetable oils) are not great for cooking with as they release toxic compounds when heated too high.
Ghee is a source of vitamins A and E, and antioxidants and contains high concentrations of Omega-3 fatty acids and butyric acid which are associated with lowering inflammation and improving digestive health. The fat in ghee also assists with the absorption of nutrients and keeps tummies fuller for longer.
