Looking for a quick and easy soup recipe that you can take on the go? Look no further than this delicious instant noodle jar. Made with a variety of ingredients, including noodles, fresh herbs, and flavorful pastes, this soup is perfect for a quick lunch or snack. Pack the ingredients in a jar, refrigerate, and then add hot water when you're ready to eat. With a total time of just 7-10 minutes, this recipe is perfect for anyone looking for a tasty and convenient meal on the go.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 2 minutes
Total Time: 7-10 minutes
Servings: 1
Ingredients:
- 1 to 3 teaspoons of a flavour base like soup stock paste, miso paste or curry paste.
- 1 to 3 teaspoons of optional flavouring extras like chilli, garlic sauce, soy sauce or tamari, coconut milk, sesame oil, Sriracha or other hot sauce.
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup of filler ingredients such as corn kernels, diced carrots, peas, diced tofu, cooked meat, dried or thinly sliced shiitake, thinly sliced spinach or other hearty greens, kimchi, soft-boiled or hard-boiled egg.
- 3/4 to 1 cup of noodles like cooked udon, cooked yakisoba or ramen, cooked soba noodles, cooked rice noodles, cooked shirataki noodles or dry vermicelli noodles.
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup of fresh ingredients like fresh herbs, sliced spring onions, pickled red onions, bean sprouts, sliced lime or lemon.
Instructions:
- Assembling the Noodle Jar:
- Put the flavour base and extras at the bottom of the cup. If the flavour base is a paste, like soup stock or miso paste, spread it around a bit so it dissolves easily when you pour hot water. Add any other flavouring extras.
- Add the filler ingredients on top of the flavour base. It's okay if they mix with the flavour base and extras. Then, add the noodles and pack them down, so they are compact. It's fine if the noodles stick together as they will separate once you add hot water.
- Finish by adding fresh ingredients. If you want to keep them separate from the hot soup, pack them in a separate container and add them later.
- Seal the container with a lid and refrigerate it for up to 5 days. Label the jars with masking tape to write their contents for easier identification. It is best to keep the jars refrigerated until you're ready to eat, but you can also store them in your bag for up to two hours.
- Cooking the Noodle Cups:
- When you're ready to eat, open the container, and pour in enough boiling water to cover the noodles.
- Cover the container and let the soup steep for 2 to 3 minutes until the ingredients are warmed through, and the soup is hot.
- Stir the soup thoroughly with chopsticks or a fork to mix the flavour base into the water and the filler ingredients into the noodles. Alternatively, you can pour the soup out into a bowl and mix everything there.
- Finally, enjoy your delicious, hot soup! If you stored the fresh ingredients separately, add them on top of the soup before eating.
